Writing is something I do to feel like myself, and so whether I am riding the wave of a big success or feeling like I’ve hit rock bottom, I know that ultimately, I will keep writing. The desire and need to write and create stories is so strong inside of me that I actually feel ill when I am not doing it. There have been major ups and downs, as there are with any artistic career, but what has stayed steady is my commitment to storytelling. I’ve arrived at this point in my career quite simply by never quitting. My books have evolved along with my own life journey, and that to me, is where the fun lies. I’m currently working on two novels with more of a spiritual slant. Next I went on to write several novellas, a memoir, a poetry book, and finally a much darker thriller. For example, my first two books were humorous women’s fiction with a dash of romance, and my next three books were time travel murder mysteries (also with a dash, or more, of romance!). The kind of book I’m writing at any given moment is usually a reflection of where I’m at in my life in some way, or a reflection of where I hope to be. One of the things I love most about my writing career is that it is constantly changing and evolving. Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community? Once I began writing the book, I was absolutely hooked and I knew I would be writing forever. I was living in Paris at the time finishing my Master’s in French, and it was in writing my thesis that I gained the confidence to begin turning that book idea into a novel. I hadn’t thought of turning my writing into a career until I had my very first book idea. I have been writing, dancing, and creating since I was young, so I guess you could say that the creative career chose me! With writing specifically, I began journaling and writing stories and poetry as a child, and I simply never stopped. Hi Juliette, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
